JPI is the project lead, working with indigenous communities, regulators, nuclear energy & high-density battery design and fabrication experts, to bring the first nuclear-battery system, capable of delivering 3 MWe+ to power a shovel by 2035. This same system is being targeted by JPI to reliably power remote communities in Canada’s North and around the globe. With an anticipated 7.5 year life for U-graphite Triso refueling, the Mining Micro Reactor Battery has the power to cut restrictive grid ties and be customized up to SMR capacity.
